COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is a 16 hr low light shooting course designed for the student who carries a firearm and operates in and around vehicles.  Since accuracy becomes extremely important in low light conditions this course will take the patrol officer through a series of nighttime drills which will give them a better understanding of how the darkness effects each shooter.  The instructor will explain ocular anatomy and physiology effects on low light shooting and how to better train for nighttime tactics.  The class will cover key features of utilizing different flashlights, holds, and weapon mounted systems.  In addition to low light concepts, the Vehicle CQB portion will cover dynamic positional shooting as it relates to vehicles in the use of cover and concealment.  Students will walk away with an understanding of ballistic principles as they apply to various mediums of cover such as glass, vehicle doors, engine blocks and wheels.  Drills will incorporate adverse shooting platforms with dynamic weapons manipulations while engaging threats in, around, and under vehicles.The course is designed for 2 hour of classroom instruction followed by 14 hours of practical instruction on the range at night.  Due to the requirement of low light the course will begin a 1600 hours and go til 0000 hours.

EQUIPMENT:

300 Rounds – Handgun     300 Rounds Rifle
Duty Gear: Handgun – Quality weapon holster, magazine pouch, and at least 3 magazines.  Rifle – Sling, 3 mags, and magazine pouches.
Eye Protection, Ear Protection, and appropriate range attire, weather gear, snacks / water
Weapon mounted light or hand held light, spare batteries, (4) chem lights and several rubber bands, Note taking materials.

INSTRUCTORS:
William Petty
Officer William Petty began his Law Enforcement career in 2003 in Albuquerque, NM. While there he served as a Firearms and Tactics Instructor, an Emergency Response Team member, and on the department shooting team. In 2011, Petty relocated to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where he worked as a Counter Terrorism Instructor with the Critical National Infrastructure Authority. Currently, Petty is assigned to patrol and serves as his department’s Range Master/Instructor. He also works as a Firearms, Defensive Tactics and Patrol instructor for the Criminal Justice Training Center’s Basic Police Academies and In-Service training courses.

Steve “Yeti” Fisher – Magpul
Steve comes to Magpul with 15 years of law enforcement service in various roles, and continues to serve as a reserve officer with an agency in the southern United States as a firearms trainer for SWAT and patrol divisions.
Steve’s career as a trainer started in the 90’s, first at NTFT and then later as the owner and lead trainer of MDFI, both Michigan based companies. He was responsible for the development of new programs and tactics for several local departments and new training curriculums based on low light, home defense and the use of the carbine, handgun and shotgun in various roles.  Steve is active in 2-Gun and 3-Gun competition on the local level, as well as in other competitive disciplines. Steve has been featured in SWAT Magazine and has written for both SWAT Magazine and Surefire Combat Tactics.  Over the years Steve has participated in numerous training programs from notable instructors in the industry as well as many local level schools, and stays active on both sides of the training industry. He is also an avid hunter and has a history in the outdoor/hunting television community as both a hunter and cameraman.  Steve’s knowledge and experience have been extremely significant in the curriculum revisions, and his ability to diagnose and correct student problems brings great value to his classes.
