Judicial License to Carry – Qualification Course

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Active Judicial Officer/Supervision or Juvenile Probation Office:
Individuals who are serving as judges or justices of the supreme court, the court of criminal appeals, a court
of appeals, a district court, a criminal district court, a constitutional county court, a statutory county court, a
justice court, or a municipal court; or a federal judge who is resident of Texas; or persons appointed and
serving as associate judges; or a Texas Supervision or Juvenile Probation officer.
 
Retired Judicial Officer
Individuals who were serving as judges or justices of the supreme court, the court of criminal appeals, a
court of appeals, a district court, a criminal district court, a constitutional county court, a statutory
county court, a justice court, or a municipal court; or a federal judge who is resident of Texas; or persons
appointed and serving as associate judges.
 
Felony Prosecuting Attorney/United States attorney/Assistant United States Attorney/Texas Attorney
General/ Assistant Texas Attorney General
Individuals who are elected or employed attorneys representing the state in the prosecution of felony cases;
or an United States attorney; or an Assistant United States Attorney; or a Texas Attorney General; or an
Assistant Texas Attorney General
 
Other / Assistant Prosecutor/
Individuals who are prosecuting attorneys or assistant prosecuting attorneys
 

Obtain a Judicial License to Carry, upon successful completion of the class and submission of the application materials, the state will issue you a license as soon as 60 days, assuming there is no legal disqualification.

Our License to Carry class package includes the following:

  • Training by a DPS certified instructor
  • Qualify on site on our professional law enforcement range
  • Application Preparation Assistance
  • Handgun (if none available by student) for use during range qualification
  • Safety glasses, target, and hearing protection for use during range qualification

Note: In accordance with the State of Texas as of March 1, 2011, all fingerprints must now be done electronically through an L1 finger printing location. We will also be referring students to L1 for their passport photos.

Required Equipment:

Handgun gun, 200 rounds of ammunition, safety glasses, and hearing protection for use during range qualification. It is no longer required to have your application packet before you begin class. If you do not have your Application Packet, we have them available.

PREREQUISITES:

There is a qualification at the end of this class. We will give guidance on handgun safety, but you must have basic handgun skills and shooting experience prior to this class in order to qualify.  For attendee’s who wish to receive formal handgun training prior to the course please sign up for our INTRO TO HANDGUNS course offered prior to any License to Carry Course we host. 

Cost: $150.00 (5 hours)

INSTRUCTORS: The instructor cadre is a globally experienced and diverse group. This provides a unique and balanced perspective in creating our training programs. The instructors are drawn from all branches of the Military and Law Enforcement Special Operations community along with members from the Medical, Intelligence, and Investigative communities. This blend of instructors provides an outstanding depth and strength to our training.

EQUIPMENT: Ammunition: 200 Rounds – Handgun Duty Gear: Handgun – Quality concealed weapon holster, magazine pouch, and at least 3 magazines.  (No Shoulder or ankle holsters) Eye Protection, Ear Protection, and appropriate range attire, weather gear, snacks / water.  Concealment garment (overshirt, vest, bdu top, etc for range work)
